On the move to.. Bardolino

What to do in Bardolino

Today a post about Bardolino, another lovely town I visited recently when I was at Lago Di Garda. More about the lake and why I visit that place so often you can find in a previous article of mine ‘On the move to.. Desenzano del Garda + tips‘. I visited Lago di Garda, Italy in the first week of June but it already feels like ages ago! I visited Peschiera, Sirmione, Moniga del Garda, Lazise and Valleggio sul Mincio. I’ll write about these places soon because these are definitely places around the lake you cannot miss. Every year since I was a child, I visited Lago di Garda and I can tell you all about it.

What to do in Bardolino:
  1. Eat as much icecream as you can in one of the many shops
  2. Go visit the wine festival ‘The Festa dell’Uva e del Vino’
  3. Order a calzone at Pizzeria Bardolino
  4. Go visit one of the many vineyards and taste some delicious wine
  5. Visit one of the oldest churches of Italy and beautiful architecture
What to do in Bardolino

Bardolino is a town in the province of Verona and is located on the southeastern side of Lago di Garda. At the foot of the sun-drenched hills we find Bardolino, a very popular holiday destination. This pretty town is known for it’s wine which is very fresh, delicious and sparkly. Bardolino isn’t very big but you can flaunt on the Passeggiata Lungolago in your new (summer dress!!), go to the beach and sunbathe or you can do some watersports if your the active kind of traveller. For the culture lovers there is also a lot to see, from beautiful buildings to one of the oldest churches of Italy, San Severo.

Eat, sleep, drink wine, repeat

By now, you already know that I’m a big food lover and that eating and discovering new places and dishes is one of my biggest hobbies. If you love that to, Italy is the place to be. I have one favorite restaurant i want to share with you guys and it is called Pizzeria Bardolino. Everytime I went to Italy I ate their at least once, even when it was an hour drive. The food there is amazing. It doesn’t matter if you have a major pizza crush or rather eat a nice spaghetti bolognese this is the place to go. They have a large outside terrace and some homemade ice cold lemoncello for later on the night.

Another big tip is the wine festival in Bardolino that has yet to come. It takes place 29th of September until the 3th of October. Think about it.. a five day festival of wine tasting, little food stalls and fireworks! The Festa dell’Uva e del Vino brings tradition, pleasure and cultural highlights and attracts more then a hundred thousand visitors. You can enjoy local specialties like risotto, riddled fish with polenta with delicious wines.

I hope you loved this post and comes in handy if you haven’t decided where to go this summer or if you just needed some inspiration for next year. In that case, make sure to read my previous articles about Italy, Desenzano del Garda or Sirmione. Haven’t some of my readers been to the Bardolino wine festival? I would love to hear your thoughts, and if I inspired you with this post.
